In the United Kingdom, East Lancashire bus operator The Blackburn Bus Company, is to launch new evening journeys on one of its most popular routes – delivering a New Year boost for the area’s night-time economy.
A package of changes is being introduced from Sunday 7 January 2024 to deliver later evening journeys and improved reliability, as the bus firm works in partnership with Lancashire County Council to make bus travel more attractive for nights out in Blackburn town centre.
The improvements to circular routes 6 and 7 linking Accrington with Blackburn via Great Harwood or Oswaldtwistle will include a new later Monday to Saturday evening journey on route 6 from Blackburn Bus Station at 11.03pm to Rishton, Great Harwood, Clayton-le-Moors and Accrington.
Meanwhile on Sunday evenings, new journeys will depart Blackburn towards Great Harwood and Accrington every hour from 7.03pm until 11.03pm – and from Accrington at 6.38pm and every hour until 9.38pm.
Other changes will see buses on route 4 between Blackburn and Leyburn Road retimed to run later than currently, while on the Valleyline service linking Shadsworth, Blackburn and Clitheroe, changes to evening and Sunday times plus minor changes on Saturday mornings will be made to improve reliability.
We’re delighted to be able to make improvements to our evening timetable on routes 6 and 7 in partnership with Lancashire County Council, to run more buses, more often on Sunday evening plus a late evening service from Blackburn to Great Harwood and Accrington seven days a week.
Single trips on our new journeys will be priced at just £1 after 7pm every evening, which makes the bus a great value choice as well as helping to make our roads safer by giving revellers the option of a chauffeur-driven ride home on our buses with no driving or parking worries.
New timetables will be available soon from our travel centre at Blackburn Bus Station, plus on our website at transdevbus.co.uk/blackburn and on our free to download Transdev Go mobile app. We’re really looking forward to bringing these new and improved timetables to East Lancashire and welcoming more people onto our buses.
Tony Fiocca, The Blackburn Bus Company’s General Manager.
