Sydney’s fourth tramway line is opening for service between Westmead and Carlingford.
The new L4 Westmead & Carlingford Light Rail line has received safety approval and will begin passenger services on Friday, 20 December, at 5:00 AM from Carlingford and Westmead stops, and at 5:02 AM from Parramatta Square. The 12km line, featuring 16 stops, connects key locations like Westmead Health Precinct, CommBank Stadium, and three Western Sydney University campuses. The $2.875 billion project, run by Great River City Light Rail (GRCLR), has created 3,420 jobs, with 60% of frontline staff from Western Sydney and 40% women. The project also offered employment opportunities to marginalized communities.
