The transport contract with NordWestBahn (NWB) for operation on the East Westphalia-Lippe line (OWL Dieselnetz Süd) has been extended for a further four years, until December 2029.
The organizing authorities, Zweckverband Nahverkehr Westfalen Lippe (NWL), Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen GmbH (LNVG) and Nordhessische Verkehrsverbund (NVV), have agreed on this.
NordWestBahn’s diesel railcars have already been operating on the four lines between Osnabrück, Bielefeld, Paderborn and Göttingen since December 2013, clocking up around 3.5 million train kilometers a year. At present, around 26 vehicles and 170 employees are operating on the network.
The contract extension is an important sign for the future of our company and urban transport in East-Westphalia-Lippe. We have been a strong partner of the region since 2013, and we want to continue to be so. We look forward to meeting the challenges of the coming years together.
Ulrich Ehrhardt, Chairman of NWB
