Mont Blanc Bus, a Transdev subsidiary, has won the call for tenders for the delegated public service contract for the Chamonix-Mont Blanc Valley urban transportation network. Signed for seven years, the contract is worth 33 million.

Chamonix Bus, the ChamonixMont Blanc Valley network, which now transports more than 2.1 million passengers a year, is subject to huge seasonal variations in ridership and serves a very wide variety of passengers.

This new contract, which enters into force on August 3, 2015, includes very demanding targets in terms of service quality (for the Valleys inhabitants, seasonal residents and tourists), intermodal services and passenger information, cost containment, adaptation to the regions growth and sustainable development.

The new contract includes a significant new challenge: protect the quality of life while at the same time reducing the environmental impact of the Chamonix-Mont Blanc Valley urban transportation network. Starting in the first year of the contract, it will result in the introduction of small electric vehicles (2 electric minibuses) and standard hybrid vehicles (6 standard Euro 6 hybrid buses).
The multi-year investment plan makes further provision for the introduction of fully electric standard vehicles adapted to the specific mountain context.

Starting in 2015, the entire fleet of 17 to 38 vehicles depending on the time of the year will be fully compliant with the provisions of the European Atmosphere Protection Plan. The network will also be totally committed to an ambitious service quality approach leading to ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.

We are delighted to continue to work with the association of local authorities in the Chamonix-Mont Blanc Valley and to operate this network in the wake of 20 years of continuous service to the Chamonix region's residents. The trust placed in us by the CCVCMB is also a reflection of the commitment of our local team and its work alongside the authority to generate new impetus for public transit by providing mobility solutions tailored to the region's rapid change and to build an exemplary network for the Valley in terms of sustainability and air quality.
