Automobilité and Transdev are making available to EHPA their respective offers of open access and car sharing electric vehicles, on demand fitted mini-buses with driver and coaches. Two La Rochelle senior residences, Villa Royale and Villa Oceane, are partners in the experiment for the new complementary services to help preventing isolation situations, breakdown of social ties and dependence.
Access to adapted transportation for elderly is one of the principal challenges to meet their daily travel needs with full autonomy and to maintain social ties. This question is particularly relevant in France, in which the number of people of 60 and over will increase to 20 million people by 2030, compared with 15 million today (1).
This experimental project was selected in July 2014 by Caisse des Dépôts through its innovative projects incubation program. Founded in 2013, the Lab CDC works through a pragmatic approach with targeted resources to rapidly test (nine months) innovative high societal value services with future customers and users. Based on the results obtained in this experiment, the tested services may lead to their wide implementation.
