Transdev’s contract to operate Toulon’s Mistral network has been renewed by Toulon Provence Méditerranée, effective July 1, 2013, for a period of eight years, representing revenues of 550 million euros.

The public service delegation entrusted since 2004 to the Régie Mixte des Transports Toulonnais (RMTT), operating as Réseau Mistral, a subsidiary of Transdev Group, has been renewed by the client, Toulon Provence Méditerranée.

Main challenges under the new public service delegation include ridership, the establishment of a heavy transport mode (BRT) in 2014, sustainable modes (bicycles, car-sharing, carpooling, …), park and rides and enhancing intermodality.

The ridership objective aims to increase current Mistral network levels, projected as 29,130,000 passengers in 2014, to 32,800,000 in 2021. Water-borne services will also be strengthened with the establishment of bato-ecobus (hybrid propulsion). A new HQE depot will complement the existing network infrastructure.

The Mistral network today comprises a fleet of 285 vehicles, 10 maritime shuttles and 725 employees. It provides services to 430,000 inhabitants in 12 communities with 114 buses and boats.
