A major infrastructure project for the New South Wales Government valued at €1.5 billion (AUD 2.4 billion), the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta Central Business District and Camellia with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometers. Stage 1 will include 16 highly accessible stops, integrated Opal ticketing, and modern, comfortable and air-conditioned vehicles with a capacity of up to 300 customers in each vehicle. The Parramatta Light Rail will begin operations in 2023.
This outcome is a powerful endorsement of Transdev’s global leadership in operating 23 light rail systems in eight countries.

The contract secured by the Great River City Light Rail consortium includes the supply of light rail vehicles and systems, the construction of the stabling and maintenance facility, the above-ground fit-out of the stations, and the operation and maintenance of the line. Within the consortium, the vehicle and system supply will be entrusted to CAF Rail Australia, which will deliver 13 URBOS 100 seven-module vehicles. The construction works will for their part be subcontracted to the engineering company Laing O’Rourke.
Transdev Australasia, Transdev Group’s Australian subsidiary, will be responsible for the testing, commissioning and ongoing operation and maintenance for a term of eight years from construction completion.
