The demand for international travel by train is growing and Snälltåget is today the only train company in Sweden that offers train travel to Europe through its Malmö-Berlin service. Against this background, Snälltåget launched a new service at the end of March, which makes it easier to book train tickets to the European continent.
On Snälltågets website you can now buy ticket from for example Stockholm, Norrköping, Linköping, Nässjö and Alvesta to a total of 30 German cities. The tickets are sold in combination with Snälltågets night train Malmö – Berlin and Deutche Bahn’s (German railways) express trains, intercity trains and regional trains. You can also include a trip with Skånetrafiken or SL (local public transit systems in Sweden) with your trip to Germany. The tickets are distributed by email as a PDF file after booking.
Many people talk about their plans to make it possible for customers to book trains to the continent in the near future, but so far we are the only ones in Sweden who offer this service for real. We are out early, and it feels great to be able to offer something that is actively requested by our customers. We have taken a step towards a seamless travel by train to Europe.

More departures for the Malmö – Berlin night train
Snälltåget is also investing in more departures with the Malmö – Berlin night train this summer to meet the increased demand. The night train Malmö – Berlin is a seasonal traffic that Snälltåget runs during Easter, the Ascension Day of Christ and during the high summer, June 24 – August 18. Now the service is reinforced with 12 extra departures during two weeks in the middle of summer.
We have a booking situation that is 86 percent higher than last year and which quadrupled since 2017. Demand for rail travel out in Europe has increased sharply in the past year and we can now talk about a paradigm shift to a more climate-smart and sustainable travel.
