After a long run, the Transdev autonomous vehicle family in the Netherlands is finally complete! In the country, the sixth and final ParkShuttle has passed the Factory Acceptance Test. The autonomous vehicles are now entering the next phase. In the coming period, they will be tested on the road for all possible safety aspects.

Transdev Netherlands has over 20 years of experience with autonomous vehicles thanks to the ParkShuttle. Since 1999, the fully automated shuttles have transported about 1,550 passengers between Rotterdam and Cappele aan den Ijssel on a daily basis. The second generation of vehicles went into a well-deserved retirement in the summer of 2019. The successor was already in the pipeline, but the introduction of the new ‘ParkShuttle 3.0’ was delayed. In addition to a number of adjustments to comply with the latest European legislation on autonomous vehicles, the corona crisis also created additional challenges.

Once the testing phase has been completed, the ParkShuttles will once again be able to provide fast and comfortable transportation.
