Every year Transdev Australasia recognize team members or Journey Makers as they are known in the region, who have gone above and beyond their role to deliver exceptional service.

The Journey Maker Awards celebrate and reward employees in categories that reflect our global strategic pillars including Innovation Starter, Customer Advocate, Safety Hero and Green Hero.

Here is an interview with this year’s Young Journey Maker of the Year winner, Reeala Pepe from Sydney Bus.

Tell us a bit about your journey at Transdev and why you chose to undertake an apprenticeship?

My journey at Transdev has been a unique and unprecedented experience. Working in my cohort has given me insight into new ways of the working field and given me wider understanding of Transdev as a whole. I chose this particular apprenticeship due to family experiences in the spray-painting field and with that came my eagerness to participate in this field and make it to where I am today.

What do you enjoy most about being an apprentice?

I enjoy the working experience, learning new things every day and the daily interaction with my friendly working peers.

You were recognized for displaying exceptionally advanced skills in the Spray-Painting cohort – how did it feel to be recognized in this way by your peers?

This recognition is greatly appreciated because it displayed to me that my efforts and contribution to jobs were not only acknowledged over my short years working as an apprentice, but also demonstrated that I improved to a level greater than I even anticipated or expected of myself. It shows Transdev really is a place that cares about their employees who show commitment.

What advice would you have for other aspiring apprentices?

The main advice I can give to other apprentices in my short years of working is that, if you stay focused on your goals your goals will stay focused on you.

What are your goals for 2021?

My aim for 2021 and many more years to come is to continue the work and mindset that won me this award to begin with, and in time make more room for even greater improvement and master my craft as an apprentice.
