It’s renowned as one of the finest walks in Yorkshire in northern England, filled with floral splendor – and with the unique added attraction of a Betty’s Tea Room and Café at both ends!
In early May, Transdev subsidiary, the Harrogate Bus Company, teamed up with tourism agency “Welcome to Yorkshire” to promote the scenic stroll from Betty’s flagship tea rooms on Parliament Street, through the stunning Valley Gardens to the ever-popular RHS Harlow Carr.
The Harrogate walk was chosen as Walk of the Day in Welcome to Yorkshire’s ‘Walkshire’ campaign, which aims to champion the White Rose County as the UK’s walking capital.
Details of the walk are being shared via social media to Welcome to Yorkshire’s combined 700,000 followers, promoting the town to a huge audience of potential visitors as its tourism economy continues to recover following the pandemic.
We’re proud to join forces with Welcome to Yorkshire to promote this wonderful family walk through the beautiful Valley Gardens and Pinewoods to the RHS garden at Harlow Carr. It’s one of Yorkshire’s most beautiful and varied walks, yet it takes only about an hour at a leisurely pace – ideal as we all get used to being out and about again this Spring.
Our buses can take you right to the start of the walk, with our stops on Parliament Street just a few steps from Betty’s Tea Rooms and Café – and for those who don’t fancy walking all the way back from the finish at RHS Harlow Carr, our Harrogate Electrics routes 6 and X6 can pick you up a short distance away on Otley Road for the return journey into town.
Right now is an ideal time of year to experience this superb walk, which showcases Harrogate at its very best – and with a chance to enjoy a Betty’s tea at both ends, nothing could be finer!
Frank Stanisauskis, The Harrogate Bus Company’s General Manager
At the start of 2021 we set out to share a Walk of the Day every day of this year, to inspire people to discover walks for all ages and abilities, from high level moorland to the heart of our towns and cities.
The walk from Betty’s in Harrogate town center offers an amazing variety of experiences for everyone, including the majestic floral wonders of the Valley Gardens, the shade and calm of the Pinewoods and finishing at RHS Harlow Carr, a delight at any time of the year and especially right now in Spring.
The Harrogate Bus Company’s services, along with Transdev’s wider network of bus routes across Yorkshire, are an ideal way to enjoy a Walkshire linear walk without having to retrace your steps to a starting point. Using the bus also helps to protect Yorkshire’s environment for everyone, especially when it’s one of Harrogate’s electric buses.
