The construction project for the first 100% Portuguese electric ferryboat has already been publicly presented. The construction of the vessel, which will be integrated in the intermodal urban network in Aveiro, Portugal. The ferryboat project represents an investment of over €7 million.
During an official presentation event earlier this month, the first 3D images of the ferryboat were released. The ferry will service the crossing between São Jacinto and Forte da Barra from 2023.
Construction will start at the beginning of the third quarter of 2021, with construction to be completed within 18 months.
The new ferryboat with zero CO2 emissions will reduce the emission of 300 tons of CO2 released by the current model, also reducing energy consumption by around 30%. The low noise levels and increased comfort for passengers introduced by this vessel are also combined with the enhanced capacity for the transportation of vehicles (+ 30%) and passengers (+ 90%).
This 100% electric Portuguese ferryboat will be the first to operate in Portugal and one the first in all of Europe.
