BarcelosBus, the public transit network operated by Transdev in Barcelos, Portugal, offer inhabitants free trips to the city COVID-19 vaccination center. This measure is designed to promote equity of access to essential services at this vulnerable stage for the community. The program is fully in line with Transdev’s purpose to empower freedom to move every day, thanks to safe, reliable, and innovative solutions that serve the common good.
The measure which was approved by the city’s Executive Council on May 21, intends to facilitate the commuting of people to the vaccination center. To benefit from the free transportation service, users only need to display the vaccination appointment notice.
Next to the access gate to the vaccination center, an embarkation/disembarkation point will be installed, in order to facilitate the entry and exit for the elderly and/or people with limited mobility.
