Meet Kel Pizzuti – the new Operations Manager for Transdev UK’s York and North Yorkshire-based bus operations Coastliner and York & Country. Kel brings 15 years of experience in the bus industry to his new role, including leading Transdev’s City Sightseeing York open-top tour bus team to their most successful summer on record this year.
Kel’s father came to Britain as a post-war Italian immigrant before moving to Nottingham, where Kel began his career journey on the buses with local firm Trent Barton.
And when Kel joined the team based at Transdev’s York depot as Operations Supervisor in May of this year, having been drawn north by the opportunity to live and work in the historic city, he soon got stuck into the challenge of attracting customers back to bus in York as pandemic restrictions relaxed, and the staycation summer of 2021 shifted into top gear.
I could see the opportunity to build a great summer with our brilliant City Sightseeing York people as soon as I joined – almost immediately we were into the May school holidays, and visitor numbers were clearly beginning to bounce back. I’ve been very fortunate this year to have some wonderful and versatile people to work with – we have an actress and a performance artist in our open-top bus tour team. I’m now looking forward to using the experience I’ve gained with City Sightseeing York to help our York and Malton-based teams reach the next level. We always work hard together to deliver the best service we possibly can each day – and I am positive that the future looks exciting for our customers and teams across North Yorkshire and York.

Kel’s outstanding record in leading our City Sightseeing York team to their most successful season ever, coupled with his experience in our industry and his relentlessly positive approach to the challenges of rebuilding beyond the pandemic, make him the natural choice to guide our York and Malton-based teams to more amazing achievements. I’m delighted that Kel has chosen to build a successful career with us at Transdev in Yorkshire, as our mission to attract and retain the very best talent continues. We value the experience all our managers have had as drivers and how it helps them in their ability to effectively lead our teams. Kel is a key appointment for us and another shining example of our approach.
