On Friday 25 November, Journey Makers from across Transdev Australia and New Zealand converged on Sydney Harbor for a night of nights, celebrating the Australasian Team Members who’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty this year.
This year there had been an overwhelming response from colleagues across the business in Australia and New Zealand. Executive Management had their work cut out for them in selecting finalists and winners, sifting through a record 542 individual nominations.
It’s testament to just how many individuals make Transdev Australasia special, and we’d like to thank each and every person that made a difference to our service delivery in 2022, as well as took the time to nominate a colleague with a kind word.
The Journey Maker Award winners for 2022 are:
- Team Player: Janine Handley (Melbourne head office)
- Community Champion: Jim Jansen (Transdev NSW)
- Customer Advocate: Fred Taupe (Transdev Wellington)
- High Performer: Daniel Gynn (Sydney head office)
- Green Hero: Scott Campbell (Transdev QLD)
- Innovation Starter: Mark Tartaglia (Transdev Perth)
- Safety Hero: Peter Smith (Transdev John Holland Buses)
- Team of the Year: Sydney Ferries crew – Ric Cook, Zane Bashford and Max Baxter
Congratulations also to Sheryll Otway, the Managing Director of Howick and Eastern in Auckland for being awarded Journey Maker of the Year.
Sheryll was recognized for her resilient leadership and commitment to the public transportation industry. As well as being the Managing Director of the Auckland bus team, she is also Chair of New Zealand’s Bus and Coach Association and is very active in charity work. She was also instrumental in introducing the first hydrogen and electric buses on the network in Auckland.
This year, two teams also received a Special Recognition Award – Transdev Sydney, our Light Rail team and Transdev Western Australia.
The Light Rail team has encountered a challenging year, pulling together to defy the odds and get the light rail network up and running much earlier than predicted, despite issues with cracking on the vehicles. This is a testament to the commitment and positivity of the team.
Transdev Western Australia also stood out, securing another 10 years and cementing our presence in Perth. It’s a truly phenomenal achievement, reflecting the strong team culture in Perth.
