Last summer, our LACMTA (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority) maintenance team underwent some staffing changes and a new employee, Ramon (Ray) Allen joined their team as the new Maintenance Manager. Since Anthony Lopez had been with Transdev for a while, he quickly volunteered to assist Ray in both settling into his new role and addressing some opportunities that may exist in the parts department based on his experience.
In a demonstration of pure teamwork, he visited LACMTA and led the team through a thorough parts inventory. This was a formidable and labor-intensive task, but it was critical step in assessing the needs of the department and helping Ray understand his new environment. Through that exercise, Anthony was able to set Ray up to add value to his new team right from the start.
Anthony also partnered with Ray to conduct a full audit of vendor records, which was another considerable undertaking, but an important best practice and essential to running an efficient operation. Anthony, using his experience as a parts manager, was able to leverage his relationships with our vendors to negotiate reduced pricing for certain parts and ensure a seamless transition for Ray and the LACMTA maintenance team. These efforts resulted in noticeable short-term and long-term savings for the maintenance department.
It’s important to note that as Anthony was supporting this other location in his region, he never missed a beat at Foothill Transit and was diligent at staying on top of his regular responsibilities and keeping his high standards in place at both locations. Even after returning to Foothill, Anthony continues to reach out to LACMTA to provide ongoing support and has since provided similar consultation at our Community Transit location in Everett, WA.
Thank you, Anthony, for your commitment to your internal customer – our teams!
Congratulations on being a Mobility Change Maker!
