Thierry Apothéloz

State Councillor for the Republic and Canton of Geneva, overseeing the Department of Social Cohesion
Born on January 31, 1971, and member of the Socialist Party, Thierry Apothéloz serves as a State Councillor for the Republic and Canton of Geneva, overseeing the Department of Social Cohesion. He was initially elected to this role on May 6, 2018, and secured a second consecutive five-year term on April 30, 2023.

Before his current position, he held the office of Administrative Councillor for the City of Vernier (GE) from 2003 to 2018, serving as mayor on seven occasions throughout his tenure. Prior to that, he served as a Member of the Grand Council from 2001 to 2003. Additionally, he chaired the Association of Geneva Municipalities and held the position of Vice President at the Hospice Général. His leadership extended to the presidency of OSEO Geneva until 2018.

A graduate of the University of Geneva with a degree in Law, Thierry Apothéloz also holds a diploma from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HETS) in Social Work.
