Federico Tarragoni is a political sociologist and professor at the University of Caen-Normandie, where he is a member of the Risk and Vulnerability Research Center and co-director of the "Critiques" research group. Since 2023, he has been a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. Founder of the Centre de recherches interdisciplinaires sur le politique (CRIPOLIS) at Université Paris Cité, he previously held the "Democracy" chair at the Circle U European University Alliance.
As an expert in the radicalization of democracy between Europe and the American continent, he is the author of seminal works on populism. His publications include “L'Énigme révolutionnaire” (Les Prairies ordinaires, 2015), “Sociologies de l'individu” (La Découverte, 2018), “L'Esprit démocratique du populisme” (La Découverte, 2019), “Émancipation” (Anamosa, 2021) and “Sociologie du conflit” (Armand Colin, 2021).
