Thanks to the support of Transdev’s light rail operation in Dublin, the LUAS, the local St. Vincent’s Development Educational Center in Dublin, Ireland recently was able to acquire new large interactive touch screens for a more interactive and engaging learning experience for all its students.

St. Vincent’s Development Education Center is an educational center for children with special needs. The school strives to provide a quality education in a happy, safe learning environment so that all students will reach their full potential.

Transdev in Dublin has been involved with the school and its educational activities over the past few years by organizing operational site visits for students and staff, and several fundraising activities. In 2020, Transdev made a one-time €1,200 donation to the school as a first step for the school to acquire the touch screens that finally has been delivered.

This past summer Adriaan Pretorius, Depot Manager at Transdev Dublin Light Rail whose son Ben is a student at St. Vincent’s, participated in the Ras, an international cycling race in Ireland which raised an additional €6,500 for the school to be put toward the screens.

It was amazing feeling to be able to complete in this very challenging sporting event and raise money at the same time. The support from people around the country was incredible.

The partnership with St. Vincent’s Development Educational Center is a concrete example of Transdev Group’s purpose which is “We empower the freedom to move every day thanks to safe, reliable and innovative solutions that serve the common good,” and our commitment to remain local and close at hand to support the communities we serve.

I feel honored to be able to help and support the School, whether it’s for a day trip or raising funds for equipment. It also helps to raise awareness that’s so important as so many of us are not aware of the extra difficulties their kids have on a day-to-day basis.
