Until the timetable change in December 2022, Transdev subsidiary NordWestBahn is testing the use of body cameras for its customer service staff on the Regio-S-BahnBremen/Lower Saxony network.
In the coming weeks, as part of the pilot project, up to 35 employees will gradually be equipped with a camera, which will be worn on the front of the body every day from 7 p.m. until the end of service on all four lines of the Regio-S-Bahn. The use of the body cameras is intended to create a preventive effect and to minimize the risk of physical attacks and verbal insults for the colleagues.
The recording function of the body cameras should only be activated in foreseeable escalating situations and after a clear announcement. The data will be secured in compliance with all data protection regulations. The recordings will be stored in encrypted form and the rights to download, view and export them will be reserved for a small number of employees and the federal police. The analysis at the end of the test phase will show whether the bodycams will be used permanently in the future.
