Bikes for everyone!
Social mediation: Ateliers de l'Audace association's project
Why this project?
Les Ateliers de l’Audace, created in 2020, aims to promote social integration through cycling. The association trains unemployed people in cycle-related professions, from mechanics to sales. At the same time, it promotes access to bicycles for all, particularly in disadvantaged neighborhoods, in order to broaden mobility opportunities. This model helps to create jobs in a booming sector, while removing economic barriers to the acquisition and use of bicycles.
How the association works
Les Ateliers de l’Audace has grown rapidly and has now a large technical center in Lyon. At the beginning of 2024, the association employed 35 people, including 25 on integration schemes. Their main activities include the repair and sale of reconditioned bicycles, as well as mobile workshops in local neighborhoods. The “Bikes for everyone” project targeted inhabitants of priority neighborhoods, offering bikes at solidarity prices and mechanics workshops. This initiative, led by employees on integration schemes, was carried out in partnership with local players and supported by the Transdev Foundation.
