As a development of an already existing cooperation at group level for the operation and maintenance of rail traffic, Transdev Sweden and STRIDES International Business (Singapore Mass Rapid Transit, SMRT’s international and commercial subsidiary) today announced the extension of their cooperation to Stockholm. The aim of the cooperation is to provide Stockholmers with world-class rail bound public transportation.
The reason for the announcement of the cooperation is that several tenders for rail transportation are starting in the region, such as the Stockholm metro.
We want to contribute to making Stockholm the most attractive region in Europe, and world-class public transportation is an important ingredient in building a more attractive and sustainable Stockholm region. Working across borders is a strength and gives us the opportunity to bring the best ideas from other countries. The partnership will also involve cross-fertilization between companies through staff exchanges.
Anna Höjer, CEO of Transdev Sweden
Together, the two partners offer a wealth of experience in both operations and maintenance, as well as project management for improved quality, punctuality, and safety with both passengers and employees in focus. STRIDES is part of SMRT, Singapore’s largest metro operator, responsible for the operation and maintenance of most of the Singaporean metro, which is ranked as one of the best in the world. Transdev Sweden is today one of the largest public transportation operators in the country, with a history dating back to the 1940s, and the only one to operate all heavy modes of transportation, i.e. trains, buses, trams and ships.
Public transport in Stockholm is already known to be one of the best in the world. Now we want to take it to the next level with our and Transdev’s long experience in multiple modes and local knowledge. We combine high quality, customer and employee focus but also a holistic approach with knowledge of both operations and maintenance, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.
