Transdev Group has expressed its strong support for the Fit For 55 package as a key opportunity for the EU to reduce its emissions and reach climate goals in a recently published position paper. In it Transdev argues that modal shift is a key element of any transportation policy that aims to improve the sustainability of public transit. But massive modal shift will be possible only if significant investment will be made to increase the mobility offer and quality of the service.

Accounting for 30% of GHG emissions in Europe, the transition of the transportation sector is a prerequisite for achieving environmental and energy transitions. However, such a transition has direct and indirect consequences to the economy and for consumers. As mobility is at the center of challenges of equity and social inclusion, it is essential to ensure that the energy transition will not be at the expense of vulnerable households.
